Day 2.1

Trogon Lodge, Costa Rica--I thought I'd blog just a bit more about this wonderful lodge we're staying at. We're miles away from any town, and to get here we had to literally drive up the mountains. The dirt road was very steep and narrow, and several times cars coming the opposite way nearly hit us. As we began driving down the mountain to the lodge, the view was breathtaking. We were even more impressed once we arrived at Trogon Lodge.

Everything is so green, with lots of colorful plants and prehistoric-looking trees. The grass here is a special kind of grass that hardly ever needs mowed--paradise, right?--and the food is delicious. We'll have lots more pictures here a bit later, but for now enjoy these snapshots of the lodge.

The only real drawback of this place is that being up so high in the mountains, it's very hard to catch your breath. Grandpa didn't really seem bothered by the altitude, but the rest of us had minor headaches and shortness of breath. More pictures to come!
